‘ This
event has
given us all a new
outlook on life.
We respect each
other a little
more now. ’

|
The day
the store reopened we greeted
each other warmly, when
two weeks before we may
have not been speaking to someone
over some trivial thing.
There was an
outpouring of emotion.”
Sam
Rowland, Produce Clerk: “There’s
no manual on this. We all came together for one common
good.
“I was at home when it happened, but it’s been an
emotional few days. |
The folks who
were here saw a lot of ugly
stuff.
We all have to
be here to keep an eye out for folks
who were caught in the middle.
We all have to
watch out for those who
have been affected by this tragedy. Right now,
it’s all about just walking through the door.”
Lillie
Mitchell, Deli Clerk: “Everybody
is so close now. There’s lots of hugging going
on. It really makes you look at life and think about things
differently.
“I didn’t even make it in that day. My husband
called when I was in the
car and he said to get away from the store, there were
reports of gunshots. Everybody who was in here is a hero.
No one hid in the store. They were all out there.” |
